I am a Postdoctoral Research Scholar for the NSF-supported grant project "Government-imposed Restrictions on International Economic Relations" (co-PIs: Timothy Peterson and Dursun Peksen) hosted at the School of Politics and Global Studies, Arizona State University. In July 2025, I will be joining the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies at Nanyang Technological University as an Assistant Professor of International Political Economy.
I study the politics of trade and foreign economic policies. My dissertation examines which domestic firms request protective trade measures from their government against foreign competition and which of these firms obtain protectionist decisions in the context of antidumping (AD) duties in the United States. As part of my postdoc work, I am building a database that codes all government-mandated restrictions imposed by the US, EU, and UN on international flows of goods, services, capital, investment, and finance, as well as on travel, media, and diplomacy, from 1992 to 2024. One of my works has been published in International Studies Quarterly.
I hold a Ph.D. in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland. Before obtaining Ph.D., I received a B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in International Relations from Seoul National University.
